[Lead] : From 2020 onwards, China’s polyethylene enters a new round of concentrated capacity expansion, with continuous expansion of production capacity. In 2022, the new production capacity will be 1.45 million, and the polyethylene production capacity will total 29.81 million tons, an increase of 5.11% compared with 2021. In 2022, China’s polyethylene output totaled 25.315,900 tons, an increase of 8.71% over 2021.
From 2018 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of polyethylene production capacity was 12.32%, showing steady growth. Since 2020, with the rise of private enterprises, polyethylene has entered a new round of expansion. Representative enterprises include Wanhua Chemical, Lianyungang Petrochemical and Zhejiang Petrochemical, etc. Light hydrocarbon technology has also begun to enter the public’s vision, and polyethylene raw materials have become richer and more diversified, and local enterprises have a higher voice.
In 2022, the new capacity will mainly be Zhenhai Refining and Chemical, Zhejiang Petrochemical Phase II and Lianyungang Petrochemical Phase II, with a total capacity of 1.45 million tons, mainly HDPE units, while LDPE only has a capacity of 400,000 tons of Zhejiang Petrochemical Phase II, which is concentrated in East China. In 2022, China’s polyethylene capacity will total 29.81 million tons, an increase of 5.11% compared with 2021. Among them, HDPE has a capacity of 13.215 million tons, LDPE 4.635 million tons and LLDPE 11.96 million tons.
The production capacity of China’s polyethylene industry continues to expand, driving the output to increase year by year. From 2018 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of domestic polyethylene output is 12.16%. In 2022, due to the high crude oil price, the profits of production enterprises are compressed, and some enterprises cut production load, resulting in a slower growth rate than in 2021. According to Lonzhong Information, China’s annual output of polyethylene totaled 25.315,900 tons in 2022, an increase of 8.71% over 2021.
In 2022, the output of LLDPE, HDPE and LDPE will account for 44.77%, 43.51% and 11.72% of China’s total output.
